Angela Abreu of Dominican Writers invites you to a Cafecito con Julia Alvarez @writerjalvarez La Madrina of Border of Lights. 𝗝𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝘀 𝘃𝗶𝗮 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗧𝘂𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗼𝗻 𝗢𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝟭𝟭𝗔𝗠 𝗘𝗦𝗧. About Border of Lights @borderoflights : Every year people from around the world come together under the banner of Border of Lights to peacefully commemorate the anniversary of the 1937 Massacre. They come together to breathe life to a tragedy long forgotten, for some, a tragedy they never knew took place. Also known as el Corte (The Cut), when Dominican dictator, Rafael Trujillo, ordered the slaughter of as many as 15,000 Haitians and Dominicans of Haitian descent on the Dominican-Haitian border.
