Discover the themes, messages, and questions that are the center of your story telling. Your core story is what drives you to the page. Get in touch with your writing Id. What are the kinds of stories, settings, tropes, archetypes that you love to write and read. What are the kinds of stories that always satisfy you as a reader and as a writer?
In the workshop we will work on coming up with your “writing mission” which will help to approach your storytelling with more clarity and intention.
Discern your strengths as a storyteller. Is research a motivator or a detractor? Are you a plotter or are you a discovery writer? At what stage of the writing process do you do your best work?
About the Facilitator: Adriana was born and raised in the Caribbean, but for the last fifteen years has let her job (and her spouse) take her all over the world. Her Dreamersseries has received starred reviews from Publisher’s Weekly and Booklist and has been featured in The TODAY Show on NBC, Entertainment Weekly, OPRAH Magazine, NPR, Library Journal, The New York Times, and The Washington Post. She’s a trauma therapist in New York City, working with survivors of domestic and sexual violence.
